Can I make changes to a publication agreement?

Answer

When an article or book is published, the author typically transfers some of their rights over to the publisher when signing the publication agreement. Most authors are unaware that they can add addendum’s to their publishing agreement. Some of the most common addendums include the right to distribute copies of the article or a chapter with students and colleagues, or to post online in an institutional repository. SPARC has an example addendum that can be downloaded for your use.
